The Physics of Condensed Matter and Complex Systems Group (T-4) is continually seeking applicants for postdoctoral fellowships at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in the general areas of condensed matter, statistical physics, and quantum physics. This web site provides additional information about our research and the postdoctoral program.
Postdoctoral appointments are normally for two years and limited to candidates within five years of completion of PhD. Postdoctoral appointments at Los Alamos National Laboratory offer competitive salaries, starting at about $70,000. Additionally, a generous and comprehensive benefits package is offered, including relocation reimbursement. Traditionally, Los Alamos National Laboratory has a vigorous postdoctoral program with the following distinguished fellowships:
• Director funded postdoctoral fellowships: Two year fellowships awarded four times a year in a fierce laboratory wide competition: in February, May, August, and December. The application deadline is more than a month before the respective date.
• J. Robert Oppenheimer and the Feynman Fellowships: Prestigious three year postdoctoral fellowships awarded once a year in the December competition. The Feynman fellowship is intended for computational science and limited to US citizens. Both appointments are for three years, carry a significantly higher salary (starting at $100,000) and historically have led to a staff position at the Laboratory.
If interested, we strongly recommend that you directly contact the specific staff member in the group with whom you wish to work. Accompanying your initial inquiry, please provide a curriculum vitae and the names and contact information of three references who may be contacted to provide a letter of recommendation.
