After my previous Reader's Forum letter on government vehicles at the park and ride lot was published, several people came to me and echoed my concerns. Another concern that was brought to my attention, was the people who park at the new parking structure at Technical Area 3 (behind SM-30/31). Apparently there are numerous government vehicles that park there in the evening and are there in the morning. People have seen others pull up to these vehicles in the morning, pull out the government vehicle, park their personal car and drive off. I would assume this means that they are driving the government vehicle to the parking garage from their work location at night, and then using the government vehicle to get back to their work location in the morning. At the same time, this assures them a great parking spot for their personal vehicle. Seems to me that this is fraud, waste and abuse. I would hope that someone will look into both problems.
