Response to Laboratory radio announcement systemWe appreciate the reader's suggestion regarding more up-to-date snow information; however, the Lab's terrain poses great difficulty in having a single site provide a signal that would be usable. AM radio signals of this type are low power and it is doubtful that one situated within the Lab would reach far enough to forewarn people off the hill of road blockages or tie-ups.
Unfortunately, on Nov. 29 the sign system was not working correctly, which eliminated that avenue of letting people know of the problems on the truck route.
We continue to look for better ways to share information during snow conditions and will update employees as any changes are made.
