Response to park-and-ride shelter

The park-and-ride shelter was removed because lightning safety experts determined it as an "unacceptable" risk. The structure, which provided overhead shelter for as many as 50 people, was constructed from mostly metal and was fairly isolated in the parking lot. Given the number of people that could be in the structure and seriously injured by a lightning strike, experts agreed that there was significant risk and the structure was removed. The security perimeter project plans to relocate the park-and-ride system as part of the project with a new shelter. There is no schedule date for this activity at this time as the project is just now going out for bid and a contractor has not been selected.
