Response to health-care provider

In 2004 when the Laboratory switched insurance plans from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Mexico to United Healthcare, no plan design changes were implemented. In other words, all deductibles and co-payments under UHC remain identical to those for BC/BS. All coverages remain the same as they were under BC/BS. In addition, the billing process from diagnostic testing facilities remain the same -- the patient received a bill under BC/BS as well. The deductible for hospitalization did not change either. Hopefully, this will clear up any confusion regarding plan design differences. If you need assistance understanding how the plan works, please contact the Lab's health-care facilitator at 5-2062.
