Wednesday, March 30, 2005 Fellows prizes nominations sought for research, leadershipThe Laboratory is accepting nominations for the Fellows prizes for Research and Leadership. The Fellows Prize for Research recognizes high-quality investigations in science or engineering by Laboratory technical staff members and encourages publication in appropriate journals, books or reports. The research must have been performed at the Laboratory and have been published within the last 10 years, according to an all-employee memo. The Fellows Prize for Leadership recognizes the immense value of leadership in science and engineering at the Laboratory. The prize also is designed to stimulate the interest of talented young staff members in developing the skills and making the personal sacrifices necessary to become effective leaders. Only full-time regular technical employees of the Laboratory are eligible for these prizes. Laboratory Fellows and postdoctoral researchers are not eligible. Nominations are due by April 29 to Rusty Gray of Structure/Property Relations (MST-8), deputy Fellows coordinator in the Chief Science Officer's office. Nominations should be directed to Patricia Smith in the Chief Science Officer's Office at Mail Stop A121 or trish@lanl.gov by electronic mail.
