UC physicist explores the origins of the Higgs BosonJohn Conway of the department of physics at the University of California, Davis, explored the origins of the Higgs mechanism and particle, past, present and future searches for it, as well as speculations about what lies ahead in a Director’s Colloquium last week in the Physics Building Auditorium at Technical Area 3. He also talked about recent developments in the search for the Higgs boson. Conway's research interests are in studying the nature of fundamental particles and forces at the highest energies possible. The main focus of his research has been the search for new elementary particles at the CDF experiment at the Tevatron accelerator at Fermilab. Photo by LeRoy N.
