Reorganization of former ADO directorate discussed in new Tell Pete online

The reorganization last fall of the Operations directorate is discussed in a new issues briefing on the "Tell Pete" Web page online.

In this issue, Laboratory Director Pete Nanos talks about why the former Associate Directorate of Operations (ADO) has been split into the Technical Services (TS) and Security and Facility Operations (SFO) directorates. It also lists which groups in the former ADO have moved to either TS or SFO, as well as describing the functions of the new directorates.

"This reorganization emerged from our ongoing effort to strengthen the Laboratory's operations and senior management team," Nanos wrote. "As part of that effort, we reviewed the Laboratory's organizational structure and concluded that splitting the Associate Directorate for Operations into two new directorates would provide enhanced services and functions to the Laboratory."

The Tell Pete issue briefings help keep Laboratory workers informed regarding general issues. The Ombuds Program Office receives all electronic mail messages sent to "Tell Pete" and removes any identifying information before relaying the message contents to Nanos. The Ombuds Office also tracks trends and recurring issues so that the Laboratory can evaluate institutional or overarching patterns.
