DOE adds nine new screening centers for former workers

Nine additional screening centers around the country are being added to the Department of Energy's Former Worker Medical Screening Program.

Under the expansion, the Former Worker Medical Screening Program will offer all former Energy Department employees, contract and subcontract personnel free medical examinations to determine if possible exposure to harmful substances during their employment resulted in subsequent illness.

One of the new medical screening centers will be established for former Sandia National Laboratories employees. The Department of Energy's toll-free telephone number of 1-888-580-1746 has information on locations of other regional centers.
