Thursday, February 3, 2005 New DOE chief to speak to employees todayNew Department of Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman is scheduled to speak to DOE employees at 12:30 p.m. today. Bodman was confirmed to become DOE secretary on Monday by the U.S. Senate. He replaces Spencer Abraham, who resigned. Bodman has most recently been a deputy secretary in the U.S. Treasury Department. The talk will be shown live on LABNET Channel 10. In a message to DOE employees, Bodman said, "As I begin my service as secretary of Energy, I want each of you to know that I consider it a personal and professional honor to have the chance to work with you. I already know that I am most fortunate to have the support and expertise of the thousands of public servants and other employees who work at this department.
