New DOE chief to speak to employees today

New Department of Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman is scheduled to speak to DOE employees at 12:30 p.m. today.

Bodman was confirmed to become DOE secretary on Monday by the U.S. Senate. He replaces Spencer Abraham, who resigned. Bodman has most recently been a deputy secretary in the U.S. Treasury Department.

The talk will be shown live on LABNET Channel 10.

In a message to DOE employees, Bodman said, "As I begin my service as secretary of Energy, I want each of you to know that I consider it a personal and professional honor to have the chance to work with you. I already know that I am most fortunate to have the support and expertise of the thousands of public servants and other employees who work at this department. I look forward to working with you to advance the Energy Department's mission and to create results for the American people."
