Drainage project on Trinity Drive resumes

Laboratory employees and Los Alamos residents may encounter some delays in eastbound Trinity Drive traffic as a drainage improvement project resumes.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation is replacing three drainage drop inlets on Trinity Drive in front of the Mountain Village complex, according to a news release. The drop inlets have been installed on the westbound lanes of Trinity Drive; work has now moved to the eastbound lanes.

While work is underway, the sidewalk on the eastbound side of Trinity Drive will be closed to pedestrian and bicycle traffic between Diamond and Oppenheimer drives. Additionally, eastbound Trinity Drive will be narrowed to one lane through the work area.

The work should be done in about two weeks, weather permitting. Significant traffic delays aren't expected, but motorists may wish to seek alternate routes especially during the noon hour and evening commute. Signs and other traffic control devices will be in place alerting motorists to the work.
