Monday, January 10, 2005 Short timerThompson bids farewell to co-workers William "Buck" Thompson took casual Fridays to a new level on his last official day of work at Los Alamos. Sporting a "new do," earring and Hawaiian apparel, Thompson shared some laughs with co-workers at his office in the Administration Building at Technical Area 3 last Friday. Thompson retired as principal deputy associate director for weapons physics (ADWP) after 32 years of service to Los Alamos. Thompson previously was special assistant to former Laboratory Director Sig Hecker for 11 years and for one year with former Director John Browne. Shown with Thompson is at left, Christie Salazar of the Center for Nonlinear Science (T-CNS). Salazar worked for Thompson initially as a student intern when Thompson was a group leader. With Thompson is his wife, Debby, right, of Decision Applications (D) Division, and Cecilia Olivas, chief of staff for ADWP. Photo by LeRoy N.
