DOE issues RFP on Lawrence Berkeley lab contractThe Department of Energy this week released the final request for proposals on the operating contract for Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California. The Berkeley lab is operated by the University of California for DOE. A draft proposal on the operating contract was issued in October. The final RFP includes changes made as a result of comments received on the draft. The RFP describes the criteria DOE will use in selecting a contractor to evaluate the Berkeley lab. Evaluation criteria include the potential contractor's management approach to research and development, attracting and retaining world-class scientific personnel, as well as achieving excellence in operations and business management; key personnel, including the proposed laboratory director; experience and past performance in both science and business management; and a strategy for fulfilling DOE's objectives for the laboratory. Proposals to operate the Berkeley lab are due Feb. 9, 2005. To read a DOE news release, click here. Other Headlines History of nuclear testing discussed at talk today more...
