Thursday, December 16, 2004 Temporary government parking permits for 2005 to go out soonThe Laboratory will issue new 2005 temporary parking permits to replace the 2004 permits currently in use. Divisions should not destroy their current permits until they receive the 2005 ones. Laboratory groups will receive parking passes equal to 10 percent of their work force. If a group needs more than the allowance, an exception form found at http://eia.lanl.gov/forms/1895.pdf online (Adobe Acrobat Reader required) can be filled out and signed by a division leader and submitted to Security Support (S-5). The placards will be issued to a responsible person who will maintain the distribution and ensure that employees read and follow the rules written on the back of the parking placard. The new permits are individually numbered and bear a special hologram that cannot be reproduced, according to S-5. The temporary permits are not intended to be assigned to one individual. For example, a Technical Area 33 employee attending a meeting at TA-3 and using a parking placard is considered proper use. An employee who works in TA-3 and parks in the TA-3 parking lot each day is not considered proper use. Parking violation notices will be issued to persons using the placards improperly. Lab employees are encouraged to be familiar with Administrative Manual policy (AM 617), Parking, which can be found at http://int.lanl.gov/memos/alldist/LANL_ALL653.PDF online (Adobe Acrobat Reader required).
