Monday, November 15, 2004 Briefing on laser incident set for WednesdayThe Laboratory work force can learn more about the July laser incident that led in part to the suspension of operations at a briefing scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday in the Administration Building Auditorium at Technical Area 3.
Fred Tarantino, principal associate director for the nuclear weapons program, will lead the briefing. A student researcher was injured in the July 14 incident; two days later Laboratory Director G. Peter Nanos ordered a suspension of operations while all Laboratory personnel completed safety and security training. All risk-level one operations, nearly 90 percent of risk-level two operations and about one-third of risk-level three operations have resumed normal work.
