Friday, November 5, 2004 Trinity Drive drainage project may impact trafficMotorists on a section of westbound Trinity Drive may encounter some delays in traffic beginning Sunday because of a drainage improvement project scheduled to begin. The New Mexico Department of Transportation is replacing three drainage drop inlets on Trinity Drive in front of the Mountain Village complex, according to a news release. Work will begin first on the westbound lanes of Trinity Drive, then move to the eastbound lanes. The work is scheduled to be completed in about four weeks, weather permitting. While work is ongoing on the eastbound side of Trinity Drive, the sidewalk will be closed from Diamond and Oppenheimer drives, however, driveway access will be maintained. During the project, vehicle traffic will alternately be narrowed to one lane on the side of Trinity Drive where construction crews are working. Signs and other traffic control devices will be in place alerting motorists to the planned work. "Traffic delays for eastbound drivers will most likely be significant during the noon hour and the evening commute," according to the release. Significant delays are not expected for westbound Trinity Drive, but motorists should plan extra time to reach their destination or seek alternate routes of travel.
