COMSEC audit authorized as level 1 activity

The annual communications security (COMSEC) audit begins Monday and concludes on Oct. 29. Participation in the annual COMSEC audit performed by Department of Energy headquarters is an authorized level 1 activity. Auditors will be randomly checking serial numbers of secure phone units and the key materials that go with them.

The audit is solely an administrative action and does not require processing any classified material. For the audit, users only have to show the communications security equipment to auditors so that they can verify serial numbers. For those affected personnel who don't comply, their equipment or devices may be removed or relocated. Several hundred personnel at the Lab will be directly affected by this annual audit.

For more information, go to the COMPASS Web page.
