New sidewalks will improve pedestrian traffic in, around TA-3

New sidewalks nearing completion near Occupational Medicine (HSR-2) will help Lab employees who walk in and around this area of Technical Area 3.

Utilities and Infrastructure (FWO-UI) is building the 10-foot wide concrete sidwalks along Pajarito Road east to Diamond Drive, said Crystal Rodarte Romero of FWO-UI. The new sidewalks will provide added safety for Lab workers who walk to various locations in the area. The work is scheduled to be finished by the end of the month, weather permitting.

"By installing new Americans with Disabilities Act-certified sidewalks to connect to existing sidewalks, pedestrian and bicycle safety will be greatly enhanced," Rodarte Romero said. "Until the new sidewalks are open, pedestrians are reminded to follow all traffic control detours, avoid the construction work zone and only walk in designated areas. Motorists also are advised to follow all traffic control devices and to use alternative routes whenever possible."
