2004 Laboratory Women's Forum in OctoberThe 2004 Laboratory Women's Forum will be held at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory on Oct. 26 and 27. This year's conference theme is "New Directions: Women of Influence in the National Laboratories." The conference brings together more than 100 women from Los Alamos, Lawrence Berkeley, Lawrence Livermore and Sandia national laboratories. "The 2004 Laboratory Women's Forum is a great opportunity to hear the latest advances in science and technology and how it impacts women in the technical work force. It also is an excellent opportunity to team with women at our sister labs to make the most of the advances," said Wendee Brunish of Geophysics (EES-11). Two previous conferences received favorable reviews from the participants and yielded positive results in achieving a more diverse work force in technical and senior management at the national laboratories, organizers said. Featured events at this year's conference include a panel discussion of the impact of science and technology on women's issues, followed by featured and keynote speakers. Participants also are invited to submit a poster describing their recent research. To read a all employee memo click here. To register for the 2004 Laboratory Women's Forum, contact Brunish at wb@lanl.gov by electronic mail or visit the Web site at http://fac.lbl.gov/LWF2004/ online. The pre-registration deadline is Friday (Oct. 1). --Kathryn Ostic
