Awareness of personal property is everyone's responsibility

All Laboratory personnel are responsible for the efficient, economical management of government property in their custody.

Through Friday, Property Management (SUP-2) is sponsoring a property awareness campaign and display on the second floor of the Otowi Building at Technical Area 3. The display includes a quick-reference card employees can keep for future use.

SUP-2 also will hold a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to Lab workers who go to the SUP-2 Web page and review the property awareness campaign information, which includes a Powerpoint presentation, said Michael Shepherd of SUP-2. The gift certificate was donated to SUP-2 from the National Property Management Association.

Some of the property-related questions that employees will find on the SUP-2 Web page include

• who is responsible for immediately reporting property-related incidents, such as damage, loss, or theft?;
• who are property custodians at the Laboratory?;
• what is the difference between the Laboratory's personal and real property?;
• who should Lab workers call if they need office supplies or a new computer?

The SUP-2 property awareness Web site is at http://sup.lanl.gov/property/pam04/default.shtml online.

Laboratory workers who have property-related questions should call the SUP-2 property helpline at 5-3230, said John Eklund of SUP-2.
