Repairs to Omega Bridge scheduled this weekend

The Omega Bridge on Diamond Drive will undergo expansion joint replacement repair work because of damage sustained over the years from traffic movement and from snow removal activities. The repair work is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday.

The repair work includes the removal and disposal of the damaged, segmental expansion device and replacement expansion joint located at the south end of the bridge on Diamond Drive near Technical Area 3.

KSL Services will perform the work, maintain traffic control and conduct other miscellaneous tasks, said Douglas Volkman project leader of Utilities and Infrastructure (FWO-FMU-8-UI).

Vehicle traffic on the four lane bridge will be restricted to two, one lane for each direction of travel. Infrequent, brief traffic stoppage may be necessary for set-up, takedown or for other necessary activities, said Volkman.

For more information, contact Volkman at 7-6238 or write to volkman@lanl.gov by electronic mail.
