Events planned in Los Alamos to promote game
The Laboratory is teaming up with several Northern New Mexico partners and the Albuquerque Isotopes for Los Alamos National Laboratory's Northern New Mexico Day at Isotopes Park on Sept. 6. The Labor Day game against the Oklahoma Redhawks is the season finale for the Isotopes.
The Laboratory is closed on Monday, Sept. 6, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Game time is 1:35 p.m.
Coca Cola Bottling Co. of Santa Fe, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Santa Fe and Albuquerque Publishing Co., are teaming up with the Laboratory and the Isotopes for the afternoon event at Isotopes Park, located at University Boulevard and Avenida Cesar Chavez S.E., in Albuquerque.
To kick off ticket sales for the Labor Day game, the Lab will staff a ticket booth at the South by Southwest concert Friday in Los Alamos. The concert begins at 7 p.m., and is sponsored by Community Bank, Gordon's CD's, Tapes and Records and other Los Alamos businesses and individuals. The Bradbury Science Museum next door will remain open that evening.
Tickets also will be available at Spirit Day at Valdez Park in Española from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 28.
Tickets for the game will be on sale at the Public Affairs Office, 135 B Central Park Square in downtown Los Alamos, beginning Aug. 23.
Melissa Porter of Tritium Science and Engineering (ESA-TSE) will sing the national anthem as she did at last year's Lab Day at Isotopes Park.
The Isotopes currently are in third place in the Central Division of the Pacific Coast League.
The Daily Newsbulletin will publish additional information about the event as it becomes available.
