STARS personnel lauded by Johnson

Jay Johnson, left, Laboratory controller and acting leader of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Division, expresses his thanks to personnel involved with implementation of Department of Energy Standard Accounting and Reporting System (STARS) requirements at a recent appreciation luncheon hosted by Johnson. Seated left to right are Carlene Naranjo, Craig Kelley and Charlie Lee of Enterprise Information Infrastructure (IM-3) and Beth Gardiner of Information Management (IM-DO). Last October, the National Nuclear Security Administration directed all integrated DOE contractors to implement new Departmental Integrated Management Navigation System STARS requirements. The I-MANAGE system consolidates and streamlines complexwide efforts to integrate financial, budgetary, procurement, personnel, program and performance information at the DOE level. STARS is the financial portion of I-MANAGE. The Integrated Contractor Interface was a critical component of DOE's ability to implement their STARS project as a whole. Consequently, the Laboratory's ability to achieve the implementation process was crucial. From a Laboratory perspective, the DOE requirements meant converting the Lab's management reporting system to one that DOE was requesting. CFO personnel had only about one month to meet the new requirement and proceeded with implementation despite some uncertainties at the time. The Laboratory succeeded in meeting its deadline. The luncheon was a chance for Johnson to express his appreciation for the STARS team's hard work and success. Photo by James E. Rickman, Public Affairs
