Extreme fire conditions lead to partial closures of Santa Fe National ForestA continuing lack of moisture has prompted Santa Fe National Forest Service officials to institute partial closures of forest areas. The stage three partial closures were effective at 12:01 this morning, according to a news release from the Santa Fe National Forest. "As a public safety measure, we feel it is necessary to move into the next level of fire restrictions," said Gilbert Zepeda, Santa Fe National Forest supervisor. The entire forest in the Jemez Ranger District is closed, while in other ranger districts some areas remain open with limited or no restrictions, said Zepeda. A news release from the Santa Fe National Forest provides detailed information on the various ranger districts that make up the forest. To read the news release, click here.
