Flags lowered at University of California sites

UC campuses open on Friday

University of California President Robert Dynes this week asked that flags at all UC properties be lowered to half-staff in observance of the passing of former President Ronald Reagan.

The flags will remain at half-staff through July 5, Dynes said, adding that all UC campuses will remain open Friday. "Although federal and state offices will be closed, the University of California will reamain open," said Dynes.

Additionally, the University of California Office of the President will observe a moment of silence at noon on Friday to honor the memory of President Reagan.

"My decision to keep the university open is based upon the difficulties involved in closing at a time when most campuses are preparing for or are in the midst of the close of academic year. I encourage your campuses, however, to pay tribute to Mr. Reagan in an appropriate manner."To read the Dynes letter, click here. (Adobe Acrobat Reader required)
