Nanos talk today focuses on diversityLaboratory Director G. Peter Nanos, former commander of the Naval Sea Systems Command and of the Navy's strategic nuclear program, is scheduled to talk about diversity at 9 this morning in the Physics Building Auditorium at Technical Area 3.
Nanos was invited to speak about diversity because he has a unique perspective on the subject as it is recognized that the Navy was in the forefront of this movement, said Lisa Gutierrez, Diversity (DVO) Office leader. Additionally, Nanos supports the development of work force diversity, she said. This is the final event of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, which is normally celebrated in May. Asian Pacific American Heritage Month at the Laboratory is sponsored by the Asian American Diversity Working Group, the Diversity Affirmative Action Board, and the Diversity Office.
