Laboratory emergency exercise is today

The Laboratory's 2004 full participation emergency exercise is today. The exercise is required by the Department of Energy to test the Laboratory's ability to respond to an emergency.

The emergency exercise involves several Laboratory organizations and outside agencies, such as the Los Alamos Fire and Police departments, the Los Alamos Medical Center and the DOE/National Nuclear Security Administration Los Alamos Site Office.

During the exercise, Lab employees may observe emergency vehicles and "exercise in progress" signs in the vicinity of the exercise. The exercise should be completed by early afternoon.
