The Laboratory is offering a Classified Removable Electronic Media (CREM) training class at 1:30 p.m., Thursday in the Administration Building Auditorium at Technical Area 3. Take a walking break today. Join other 10 K-A-Day walking program participants and Wellness Center staff for a "Walking Wednesday" group walk: TA-3 Loop. Meet at noon today at the Wellness Center. Ski season may be over, but you can still walk towards the ski hill on a 10 K-A-Day "Walking Wednesday" group walk. Walkers should meet at noon on Wednesday, June 16, at the Wellness Center; trail footwear recommended. Wellness Center staff will lead the 30 - 45 minute trail walk off of West Jemez Road. Registration for the YMCA’s 2004-2005 after school child care program begins at 8 a.m., June 14. From June 14 until July 9, the $25 registration fee will be waived. The first month’s care must be paid at the time of registration. Forms are available at the YMCA now, however they can only be turned in beginning June 14. After school care is offered at every elementary school in Los Alamos and White Rock. The program provides a fun, safe, secure, supervised environment with a variety of quality experiences for children. The YMCA is also offering on a limited basis a two-times per week option that includes a Wednesday common-planning day. Updated 5/27/04 Firecracker Family Fun Run July 3 in Los Alamos The Los Alamos Family YMCA, a Laboratory sanctioned organization, is accepting registrations for its annual Independence Day Firecracker Family fun run. The run begins at 8:30 a.m., July 3, at the YMCA downtown. The 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) run includes prizes for winners in men's and women's and age categories, said John Marble of the Los Alamos Family YMCA. There also is race-day registration from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. The cost is $10 for the first YMCA family member; $8 for the second; and $6 for each subsequent family member. All family members must be registered at the YMCA to receive family rates for the run. T-shirts will be given to the first 100 entrants. Updated 2/26/04 Employees leaving Lab must attend termination presentation Employees who are leaving the Laboratory or changing to casual status must attend a benefits termination presentation held by Benefits (HR-B). The termination presentations are held every Laboratory pay day for University of California Lab employees. Employees who are retiring aren't required to attend a presentation, but rather, they should schedule a meeting with their designated benefits specialist. The presentations begin at 8:30 a.m. in room P280 on the second floor of the Otowi Building at Technical Area 3. Pre-registration is required. Employees should register on line at http://hrcluster.lanl.gov/TIOCourses/TIOAha.asp?CourseNumber=21013 one to two weeks prior to their last scheduled work day to sign up for a benefits termination presentation. At the presentation, employees will receive a packet of information about their benefits and savings balances. They will learn about options to continue or convert insurance plans and distribution options for savings funds.
