Monday, June 7, 2004 June Research Library newsletter now onlineThe June issue of the Research Library (STB-RL) newsletter is now online. The newsletter contains information about services, resources and programs offered by the library, which is located in the J. Robert Oppenheimer Study Center at Technical Area 3. In this month's issue, learn about how STB-RL is making searching for materials research easier. The Cambridge Scientific Abstracts materials research database with METADEX is now available through the Research Library's subscription with CSA. Cambridge Scientific Abstracts has collected eight major databases in materials science, with a combined total of 2 million records going back to 1966. Everything you wanted to know about math going back to 1868, is now available at the touch of a keystroke. The Zentralblatt MATH Database, available at STB-RL, contains more than 2 million entries drawn from more than 2,300 serials and journals. The entries are classified according to the Mathematics Subject Classification Scheme (MSC 2000). Zentralblatt MATH is sponsored by the European Mathematical Society, FIZ Karlsruhe, and the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences. In addition, electronic versions of the Lancet dating back to 1823 are available through the Research Library. New electronic journals available from the library this month include among others, European Journal of Wildlife Research, Ecological Complexity, Nuclear Structural Engineering, Physical Biology, Journal of Pest Science, Acta Histochemica, Journal of Geophysics and Engineering, Chemistry and Biodiversity, Risk News, Applied Numerical Analysis and Computational Mathematics and the Journal of Statistical Mechanics: Theory and Experiment. Research Library staff have been much in demand lately on the speaking tour. STB-RL leader Rick Luce delivered a keynote talk at the second International Symposium on Digital Libraries in Campinas, Brazil, and Henry Jerez gave a technical seminar there on the Research Library's new approach to creating a digital repository infrastructure. Additionally, STB-RL's Herbert Van de Sompel gave the keynote lecture on the need for new infrastructure models at CRIS 2004, the seventh International Conference on Current Research Information Systems in Antwerp, Belgium. The Research Library, including the lower level, is open to all Laboratory badge holders 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Lab workers can call 7-7840 during business hours to verify that they are registered in the STB-RL badge reader.
