Monday, May 17, 2004 New structure announced for Lab's Weapons Program DirectorateDonald R. McCoy, acting principal associate director for Nuclear Weapons Programs (ADNW), has announced the structure for his organization. The directorate has programmatic responsibilities for the Laboratory's entire nuclear weapons program. Chief responsibilities of the new directorate include setting priorities for the nuclear weapons program, providing cost-benefit analysis and risk management, tracking and ensuring consistent execution of weapons activity plans with consistency across the institution and assuring long-term support of division capabilities that are the foundation of the nuclear weapons program. In addition, the directorate will balance the stockpile and predictive science programs, allocate required resources, and ensure technical quality of program and deliverables. The directorate will be the customer (Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration, Department of Defense) interface and will maintain a "one voice" corporate posture at all times.
