Events will begin at 6 p.m. with a Gordon's summer concert at 7 p.m. and a Night Fly exhibition, as winds permit. On Saturday, events will begin at noon with a kite building workshop for kids from 1 - 3 p.m. The Festival will continue from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday. Updated 5/14/04 Los Alamos blood drive ends today United Blood Services and the Los Alamos Civitans Club are conducting a blood drive in Los Alamos. Blood can be donated at the Parish Hall of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3700 Canyon Road, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., today. Laboratory employees who volunteer without compensation as blood donors during Laboratory-approved blood drives are excused from work with pay for the time necessary to accomplish this purpose. Time off for the blood donation must not exceed four hours. For accounting purposes, absences for blood donation are reported in quarter-hour increments for nonexempt employees and one-hour increments for exempt employees. The code for blood donatin is "BD." The "Excellence in Project Execution" symposium will focus on improving project managers' capabilities to successfully execute projects. Presentations by experts on critical areas of project execution and hands-on breakout sessions on specific project management issues designed to increase knowledge and improve skills. Symposium participants also will have a unique opportunity to interact with national project management experts and a large segment of the UC Laboratory project manager community. "Proof" explores the complex relationships in the family of a famous mathematician. The plot follows the expected tension that arises after the death of a disabled parent, while Auburn's expertly crafted script weaves topics such as the nature of genius, mental illness, the role of caregivers, sex discrimination and even intellectual property rights into the story of a father's relationship with his two daughters. Show times are 8:15 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays (May 14, 15, 21 and 22). There will be two Sunday matinees at 2 p.m., May 16 and 23. These items are no longer available through just-in-time. This does not include paper products. All bulk paper, engineering, copier, printer, recycle, etc., will remain available through JIT. Xerox copier supplies can be purchased as part of the new Xerox Maintenance Agreement Subcontract. All supplies (except paper) can be ordered when monthly meter reads are provided directly to Xerox by calling 1-888-209-7473 and key in your phone number. The camp runs from June 7 through Aug. 20. The "Day Camp Down Under" is for children between ages 5 and 12 and is in session from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday at Mountain Elementary School. Activities include field trips, guest speakers, rock climbing, racquetball, library and aquatic center trips and arts and crafts activities. The LabVIEW Basics I prepares you to develop test and measurement, data acquisition, instrument control, data logging and measurement analysis applications using LabVIEW. The LabVIEW Basics II course is a logical extension of Basics I and prepares you to design complete, stand-alone applications in LabVIEW. LabVIEW Intermediate I teaches structured practices to design, develop, test and deploy LabVIEW applications. The Intermediate II course builds on the skills developed in LabVIEW Intermediate I by doing an in-depth examination of memory management and performance techniques to help extend the ability to develop LabVIEW code that maximizes application performance. This training is also for LabVIEW users pursuing the Certified LabVIEW Developer certification. The termination presentations are held every Laboratory pay day for University of California Lab employees. Employees who are retiring aren't required to attend a presentation, but rather, they should schedule a meeting with their designated benefits specialist. The presentations begin at 8:30 a.m. in room P280 on the second floor of the Otowi Building at Technical Area 3. Pre-registration is required. Employees should register on line at http://hrcluster.lanl.gov/TIOCourses/TIOAha.asp?CourseNumber=21013 one to two weeks prior to their last scheduled work day to sign up for a benefits termination presentation.
