Los Alamos NewsLetter to be distributed this weekThe biweekly hard-copy newsletter for the week of April 26 is scheduled to be in mailboxes and newsstands this week. Featured on the cover this week is a story on how Laboratory researchers at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) are helping industry by simulating circuit failures from cosmic rays, and another story on the discovery of superconductivity at ultracold temperatures in cubic diamond. On Page 4, read about three new committees that have been created to enhance and strengthen the Laboratory's ongoing business improvement initiatives and foster greater economic development in Northern New Mexico and the state. The Laboratory's Enterprise Project is now formally in place, thanks to the recent signing of Enterprise Project baseline documents by Laboratory Director G. Peter Nanos; Richard Marquez, associate director for administration (ADA); and Carolyn Zerkle, ADA principal deputy. Read about the Enterprise Project on Page 5. On Page 6, the newest Postdoctoral Distinguished Performance award winners are announced, and on Page 7 employees can find April service anniversaries and this month in history. The spotlight feature on Page 8 is about Mike Pannell of Industrial Hygiene and Safety (HSR-5) who is striving toward his ninth national title in the 400-meter hurdles. Employees can access the Los Alamos NewsLetter at http://www.lanl.gov/worldview/news/lanl_archive.shtml online or obtain additional copies at the bright blue distribution boxes throughout the Lab.
