Tuesday, April 20, 2004 Printer friendly version Special wall-to-wall inventory of accountable classified removable electronic mediaThe Laboratory in January began efforts designed to significantly reduce the total holdings of classified removable electronic media, or CREM. The CREM Reduction Initiative Committee implemented a “90 Day Plan” to coordinate and benchmark CREM reduction efforts. Upon completion of the CREM reduction plan, the committee has called for a 100 percent “wall-to-wall” inventory of accountable CREM to ensure that accelerated reduction, destruction and consolidation efforts have not resulted in CREM that cannot be accounted for. This instruction provides direction on conducting a full inventory of accountable classified removable electronic media. It establishes a timeframe for a complete accountable CREM inventory using existing requirements for conducting classified matter inventories. This instruction will remain in effect until May 24, the deadline for inventory results to be submitted to the Classified Matter Protection and Control team in Security Support (S-5).
