Women's History Month poster contest inspires student artists

Laboratory Director G. Peter Nanos looks at some of the more than 50 posters on display in the second floor lobby of the Otowi Building at Technical Area 3 as Maryrose Montalvo of Nuclear Materials Technology (NMT) Division, chair of the Women's Diversity Working Group, describes some of the poster entries. The posters remain on display through April 16. The theme of this year's Women's History Month observance was "Women Inspiring Hope and Possibility." Photo by Jim Kleinsteuber, NMT

Maryrose Montalvo of NMT hands first-grader Rosemary Sartor her prize during a ceremony in Fuller Lodge. Sartor's poster, "Cleopatra Dies," was one of the winning posters in the kindergarten to third grade category. Sartor's father, Ray, works for Safety Basis (PS-4). The Los Alamos Women In Science organization donated prizes to the 14 students whose posters were selected as winners in judging by the working group. Photo by Nancy Swickard, Accounting (CFO-1)
