Friday, March 19, 2004 DOE chief Abraham addresses House subcommitteeDepartment of Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham recently addressed the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development regarding DOE's 2005 fiscal year budget request. The department is seeking $24.3 billion in fiscal year 2005, which Abraham said is the largest in DOE history. The 2005 fiscal year begins Oct. 1. Abraham's testimony touched on DOE accomplishments in science, energy research, the environment and safeguards and security and future goals for the department.
