Patent, license award winners recognized

Greg Swift, right, of Condensed Matter and Thermal Physics (MST-10), receives his Distinguished Patent Award from Laboratory Director G. Peter Nanos at the 2003 Patent and Licensing Awards ceremony Tuesday in the Otowi Building cafeteria at Technical Area 3. Laboratory technical staff members were honored at the sixth annual patent and licensing awards ceremony for copyrighted, patented and licensed technologies developed in the last year. Swift received the Distinguished Patent Award for his patent, "Oscillating Side-Branch Enhancements of Thermoacoustic Heat Exchangers." Swift has been at the Laboratory since 1981, first as a postdoctoral fellow and later a J. Robert Oppenheimer Fellow. The Distinguished Patent Award is selected by Laboratory Fellows and recognizes a premier patent exemplifying a significant technical advance, adaptability to public use and noteworthy value to the Lab's mission. The awards ceremony is sponsored by the Technology Transfer (TT) Division. Photo by Ed Vigil, Public Affairs
