Employees make'04 United Way campaign successful

Laboratory workers made the 2004 Northern New Mexico United Way campaign a success through donations of their time and money, according to Laboratory Director G. Peter Nanos.

The recently completed campaign raised about $728,000 and Lab workers pledged or donated 20,000 hours of volunteer time to United Way agencies ranging from food banks to scout troops. "This year's campaign saw another successive increase in Laboratory participation, due in large part to the introduction of the Fair Share program, which provided an additional avenue for participation through volunteering," Nanos said in a all-employee memo.

"I believe that these accomplishments were reached because you realize, as I do, that our success here at the Laboratory depends on our close and continuing ties with our neighbors in this region, and our commitment to help provide those in need with basic necessities like food, shelter and health care," Nanos added.
