Monday, November 3, 2003 Get your bids inMST auction deadline for United Way is Wednesday Jewelry, homemade pies and tamales, ski lessons, a 90-minute sightseeing plane ride for two, framed underwater photos and an out-of-print Santa Fe Opera poster are just some of the items available for auction on the Materials Science and Technology (MST) Division's MST-bay Web page. Lab workers can go to the Web page -- http://www.mst.lanl.gov/internal/mstbay/ -- and click on the postage size stamps. A new Web page opens describing the item up for bid and a minimum suggested bid. Workers can then submit their bid. All proceeds will go to this year's United Way campaign. Workers can only view available items for bid using the Internet Explorer Web browser. Bids for the various items will be accepted until noon Wednesday. The auction is to raise money for the Lab's 2004 United Way giving campaign. The campaign has raised $386,140 in pledges and donations as of Wednesday. The Lab's "Caring That Changes our Communities" giving campaign officially ends Nov. 14. Other items available for auction include a New Mexico gift basket with regional goodies and a New Mexico cookbook, dinner for two in Santa Fe with MST Division Leader Paul Follansbee and a reserved parking spot in the MSL Division parking lot at Technical Area 3. For more information about the MST Division auction, contact Karen Kippen, the MST Division United Way representative at 5-1131. Other United Way activities are ongoing, including the sale of "The Caring Cookbook: Recipes from the Heart" cookbook, which cost $10 and contains recipes from Lab employees and subcontract personnel. Call Valerie Salazar of the Industrial Business Development (IBD) Office at 5-9090 to purchase a cookbook. On Thursday, Information Management (IM) Division is hosting a bake sale from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Otowi Building second floor lobby at Technical Area 3.
