Hundreds turn out for United Way fall fiesta

John Bretzke, acting Supply Chain Management (SUP) Division leader, was one of several Lab managers who agreed to be dunked into a dunk tank to raise funds for the Laboratory's 2004 United Way giving campaign on Wednesday at the fall fiesta outside the Los Alamos Research Park. Standing next to the dunk tank is Anthony Garcia of Materials Management (SUP-3), who also hit water as part of the fundraising event. The United Way fall fiesta was sponsored by SUP, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Communications and External Relations (CER) divisions.

Liles read fortunes at Wednesday's United Way fall fiesta, which raised more than $5,200. Other United Way activities are ongoing, including an online, silent auction by the Materials Science and Technology (MST) Division and the sale of cookbooks. "The Caring Cookbook: Recipes from the Heart" cost $10 and contains recipes from Lab employees and subcontract personnel. Call Valerie Salazar of the Industrial Business Development (IBD) Office at 5-9090 to purchase a cookbook.
