Tuesday, October 28, 2003 Brown bag meeting for foreign nationals is todayThe next brown bag meeting for foreign national employees at the Laboratory is this morning in the Materials Science Laboratory Auditorium at Technical Area 3. Issues related to immigration and employment will be discussed at the meeting, which begins at 10:30 a.m. Light refreshments will be provided. The brown bag sessions are aimed at providing a forum for information exchange, Bruce MacAllister, the Lab's ombudsman explained. The Foreign National Initiative, coordinated by Camilla Scavenius-Lopez of the Ombuds Program Office, is a collaborative effort of the Diversity Office (DVO), the Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO), Internal Security Office (ISEC), Laboratory Counsel (LC), Human Resources (HR) and Theoretical (T) divisions, the Science and Technology Base (STB) Programs Office and Deputy Director for Science and Technology Bill Press' office. Each brown bag meeting deals with a specific issue or theme and the initiative will be expanded to include other activities and forums of relevance for foreign nationals. Previous meetings have focused on the 982 form and the badging process, computer access and the role foreign nationals have played at Los Alamos from the Manhattan Project era to today. For more information, call Scavenius-Lopez or MacAllister at 5-2837. Information useful to foreign nationals - and others - can be found at http://int.lanl.gov/worklife/international/ online.
