NTU short courses are backThe popular National Technological University short courses are once again available to Laboratory employees. The Laboratory offers the NTU classes from major universities at no charge to Laboratory workers. "These short courses emphasize up-to-date science, engineering, computer science, Internet technology, management and much more," said Dolores Jacobs, Training and Development (HR-TD) group leader. "NTU provides short courses containing the most current technical knowledge to help Laboratory workers remain competitive and maintain our world-class status in today's research environment," she added. The National Technological University renewed its commitment to the Laboratory, and now in partnership with HR-TD, offers the opportunity for workers to take short courses at their computer desktops. Courses will be shown over LABNET Channel 10 or via Cisco IPTV. For employees who prefer a classroom setting, a room also is available, said Jacobs. An online HR-TD voting system allows workers to cast a "weighted" vote for short courses they want. The Web site for NTU voting is at http://www.hr.lanl.gov/shortcourses/ online. Also available are the links to Cisco IPTV for PC users and MacTV for Macintosh computer users. The software is needed to watch LABNET Channel 10 on desktop computers. For questions and suggestions for NTU short courses, call 7-9075 or 7-9074 or write to shortcourses-info@lanl.gov by electronic mail.
