Food, Eating and Stress - explore the connections between food and stress and learn strategies to minimize stress eating. This 45-minute class is the fourth in a five session series from the new Toolkit for Managing Stress. Noon to 12:50 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 28. 1. The Hilltalkers, the Los Alamos High School Speech and Debate Team, are hosting the annual Los Alamos Invitational Speech Tournament on Nov. 7-8. More than 300 high school students from 20 schools are expected to compete. Volunteers are needed to judge debates, orations, expository speeches, extemp speeches and interpretations of literature. Competition will begin at 4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7, and end at 9:30 p.m. On Saturday, Nov. 8, it will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. Judges should report to the Main Lobby of the High School 15 minutes before the round is scheduled to begin. Rounds last about an hour. Judge's workshops will be at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5 and Thursday, Nov. 6, in the Los Alamos High School Speech Theater. Members of the Hilltalkers will offer information and present examples for each event. The Los Alamos Family YMCA, a Laboratory sanctioned organization, is registering youths for ice-skating classes. The classes are for children in grades one through six. Classes are held from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Monday and Wednesday at the Los Alamos Ice Rink on West Road. The first session begins Dec. 1. A second session begins Jan. 5, 2004. The purpose of the workshop is to update all those interested in quantum research at the Laboratory on current and planned activities, to dicsuss future directions and to initiate new collaborations. It is open to all researchers at the Lab interested in Quantum Information, Science and Technology R&D. Interested participants are invited to present a brief overview of their recent and current quantum research, and any plans and ideas for future research. The TAAC 2003 UAV Conference has expanded its program to include a classified program on Oct 28 at Kirtland Air Force Base, and is limited to United States citizens with appropriate clearance.
