Badge verification procedures changing

Protection Technology Los Alamos personnel no longer are physically touching badges of Laboratory workers exiting limited security areas. The change was made after a review by the Security and Safeguards (S) Division. This new policy goes into effect today.

PTLA personnel will continue to perform "touch badge" verification when personnel enter limited security areas, such as the main entrance to S-Site (Post 431) and the back gate at the Administration Building (Post 411) at Technical Area 3.

This policy does not affect badge inspection procedures that are in place for other types of security areas, including protected areas, material access areas or special facility material access areas.

Lab employees are reminded to maintain rigorous safety vigilance regarding vehicle and pedestrian traffic near the posts while exiting limited areas.

For more information, contact the Security Help Desk at 5-2002 or Security Support (S-5) at 5-7907.
