A project to remove dead trees along NM 4 near the NM 591 junction may affect vehicle traffic this week.
The National Park Service since Monday has been removing dead trees in this area. The work is expected to continue through Friday, said Miguel Gabaldon, assistant district engineer with the State Department of Transportation.
Work is taking place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the area around the NM 4-NM 591 junction west for about 3 miles from the junction. The agencies may have flag persons stationed to direct vehicles through the work area. Motorists are urged to use caution through the work area.
Gabaldon added that on Thursday, the department will have to close one lane of traffic in this vicinity to remove a truck that went off the road last month and now sits on the bottom of a ravine. This work may also affect motor vehicle traffic.
