The Recruiting Office in Staffing (HR-S) is conducting training for Laboratory personnel who are planning to recruit in the 2003-04 fiscal years.

The training is from 8:15 a.m. to noon, Sept. 4 in the Jemez and Cochiti rooms of the J. Robert Oppenheimer Study Center at Technical Area 3. The training is considered mandatory for Lab personnel who participate in the Lab's University Recruiting Program or requestors of recruiter travel funding through Lab Deputy Director Bill Press' office.

The focus of this year's workshop is "Increasing Your Effectiveness as a Laboratory Recruiter." Topics that will be discussed include

  • Preview new initiatives and changes within the Lab's Recruiting Office
  • Strategies for on-campus recruiting activities
  • Provide institutional guidance on how to field difficult questions on Laboratory issues making the news
  • Review of Laboratory options and hiring outlook
  • Highlight values and expectations of Generation Y
  • Ethics in recruiting
  • Diversity Recruiting: What you need to know to be successful to bring diversity to the Laboratory.

Although the training will be videotaped, all recruiters are encouraged to attend the training session. Videotapes will be available for checkout from the HR-S Recruiting Office beginning Sept. 15.

To register for the training, write to recruiting@lanl.gov by electronic mail and provide name and Z number.
