Latest issue of LabUpdate now onlineThe University of California's latest issue of LabUpdate is now available online. The newsletter highlight activities and programs at the UC-operated national laboratories, including Los Alamos. In the latest issue, UC President Richard Atkinson talks about Laboratory Director G. Peter Nanos accepting the job as Los Alamos' seventh permanent director, and also lauds the Lab for its eight R&D 100 award winners. He also notes that in addition to the eight Los Alamos awards, Lawrence Livermore and Lawrence Berkeley also received a combined eight R&D 100 awards. Some of those awards are summarized in this issue. This issue also has information on the Lab's latest maps of likely sites of water on Mars; an energy award to Lawrence Berkeley Lab; two mathematicians at Berkeley who received awards in computational science and engineering; information on a study on radiation research at Lawrence Livermore lab and the recent visit to that lab by Homeland Security Department Secretary Tom Ridge.
