Tuesday, July 29, 2003 Volunteers needed to judge scholarship applicationsLaboratory volunteers are needed to review and score student scholarship applications for the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES). The scholarship review session will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Aug. 13 in Room 165 of the Canyon School Complex. A pueblo-style lunch and review process orientation will be provided. The applications to review are for the A.T. Anderson Memorial Scholarship, which is one of five scholarship programs administered by AISES. This scholarship was established in 1983, in memory of Andy Anderson, one of AISES' founders. The scholarships are non-renewable and are awarded to undergraduate ($1,000/year) and graduate students ($2,000/year) pursuing degrees in science, engineering, technology, natural resources, mathematics and health fields. AISES hopes to award about 100 A.T. Anderson scholarships this year. Interested volunteers should provide their name, electronic mail address and phone number to Kay Coddens of the Government Relations (GRO) Office by writing to kpc@lanl.gov by electronic mail. For more information on AISES and its programs, go to www.aises.org online. Or contact Barbara Grimes of American Indian Education and Employment Outreach, in GRO at 5-5121 or bgrimes@lanl.gov by electronic mail.
