Lab participating in purchasing council trade fair

The Laboratory's Small Business Program (SUP-4) Office is participating in the annual Rio Grande Minority Purchasing Council conference and trade fair Thursday at the State Fair Grounds in Albuquerque.

Procurement personnel from the Lab also are taking part in the conference and trade show, "Partnering for Economic Success Through Unity, Strength and Advancement," in the Manuel Lujan Building of the State Fair Grounds, located at Central Avenue and Louisiana Boulevard.

The Rio Grande Minority Purchasing Council is a consortium of more than 300 women- and minority-owned businesses and 60 government agencies that works to provide networking opportunities, exposure and recognition for its members while also fostering economic development. The Lab is a member of the council.

The Small Business Program Office will have an information booth at the conference and Lab staff will be available to respond to questions from small businesses about doing business with Los Alamos.

Ron Rodriguez of Procurement (SUP-1) will lead a workshop, "Developing Pricing to Recover Costs," on Thursday morning, while at 3 that afternoon, representatives of the Lab and Sandia National Laboratories will lead a roundtable discussion on doing business with the national labs.

Other workshops cover mentor-protégé relationships, funding options for small businesses and preparing qualification packages.

Gov. Bill Richardson has been invited to speak at the conference and trade fair.

For more information on the conference and trade fair, go to http://www.rgmpc.org/ online or contact Janelle Vigil-Maestas of the Small Business Program Office at 5-4329 or write to sbo@lanl.gov by electronic mail.
