Eight topical sessions with associated poster sessions will be presented, each beginning with a short overview to highlight key progress in the past year and future plans. Topical sessions: HE Synthesis, Formulations & Advanced Energetics; HE Engineering, Processing & Characterization; HE Characterization & Constituent Modeling; Non-shock Initiation (Thermal, Impact, Shear & Friction); Energetic Materials Aging; Initiation Systems & Shock Initiation; Shock Chemistry & Reactive Burn; and Detonation Physics, DSD & EOS Unclassified sessions are scheduled at the J. Robert Oppenheimer Study Center. Only badged personnel will be allowed to attend the presentations. Some attendance restrictions may apply to UCNI and/or OUO presentations. One classified session is scheduled for the Forum on Thursday afternoon. Attendance at classified sessions by DOE and non-DOE personnel will require clearance access to SRD, Sigmas 1-10. For all Lab DOE personnel, verification of your Sigma 1-10 status by your group management (via fax or email to Janet at 5-2828/neff@lanl.gov) will be required prior at the start of the review if you wish to attend any of the presentations in the classified session. Aug. 11 – 13: LabVIEW Jump-Start with IEEE-488 and RS-232 Course: learn LabVIEW programming hands-on, learn how the IEEE-488 and RS-232 systems work and how to use them the way they were designed to be used, learn how to program LabVIEW with IEEE-488 and RS-232 devices using LabVIEW, correctly. The primary focus is how to control instruments, acquire their data, convert the data to usable numeric form, store and retrieve the data, and analyze and display the data. Cost: $1,200 per person. Aug. 14 – 15: LabVIEW Advanced Topics Jump-Start Course: learn more advanced topics such as calling Dynamic Linked Libraries and C Language routines from within LabVIEW, dynamic loading and unloading of LabVIEW routines, clusters, globals and locals, advanced programs and methods for programming LabVIEW and more. Cost: $1,000 per person. Aug. 18 – 20: LabVIEW Intermediate Level Jump-Start Course: learn more sophisticated LabVIEW methods of programming such as objects and panels that appear and disappear as needed, programming special effects in LabVIEW, choice of suitable programming architectures, improving LabVIEW operation and memory use, and special topics such as waveform acquisition, customizing LabVIEW programs, and more. Cost: $1,200 per person. Aug. 21 – 22: IEEE-488, RS-232 and the Computer Course: learn IEEE-488 and RS-232 common terms, configuration, communication with instruments from the computer keyboard, how the IEEE-488 and RS-232 actually work, and how to work them the way they were designed to work properly. This hands-on course is for people who already know a computer language and know some of the IEEE-488 and RS-232 concepts, but really need to know the correct way to use them, the way they were designed to be used with instruments. Cost: $1,000.00 per person. To register, or for more information, write to Don Jordan at interfacing.concepts@att.net, by electronic mail or call (512) 566-0003.
