Lab sponsored events today boost regional small business opportunities
Two events today at San Juan Pueblo are designed to increase procurement opportunities and make government agencies aware of regional small businesses and the products and services these businesses have to offer. From 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Laboratory is co-sponsoring with several agencies Northern New Mexico Federal Procurement Day, or "Fed Day."

Thursday is early registration deadline for Plutonium Futures conference
Thursday is the early registration deadline for the Plutonium Futures -- The Science Conference July 6 through 11 in Albuquerque. Registration fees are $350 through Thursday. For American Nuclear Societymembers, fees will be $300. The conference is in the Albuquerque Marriott.

Dogs beef up Lab’s explosives- and drug-detection efforts
The Laboratory recently gained some highly trained, four-legged help in its ongoing effort to protect and safeguard its employees and facilities. Dogs trained in explosives and drug detection are now on site. The dogs, provided by Net Gain Corp. of Knoxville, Tenn., have been deployed
at strategic locations around the Laboratory in response to increased security
at Department of Energy and other federal sites following the Sept. 11, 2001,
terrorist attack.

Fire restrictions lifted in Santa Fe National Forest, Valles Caldera
Santa Fe National Forest Service officials on Tuesday lifted stage one fire restrictions in certain areas of the Santa Fe National Forest and the Valles Caldera national preserve. The restrictions were lifted because of recent rains in forest areas, weather forecasts and regional and national fire planning levels.
